Why not mesh repair?
We advise not to get inguinal hernia repair done through laparoscope because the mesh is inserted inside the abdomen and may cause more serious complications.
WHY WE DO NOT DO_HERNIA REPAIR_WITH MESH PROSTHESIS?
Mesh never gives protection by itself as believed by many. Body forms a curtain around the scaffold of mesh and then it takes another 2-3 years to gain strength in it to give protection. Till then you are not 100% protected !!!
Use of mesh prostheses in hernia repair surgeries have not benefited over pure tissue repairs in last 10 years. Read this article on recent study:
Recurrence after inguinal hernia repair at ten years by open darn, open mesh and TEP — No advantage with mesh

“Mesh is a foreign body, a simple piece of cloth prepared from the polyester, polypropylene or similar synthetic threads. Therefore, its use in hernia repairs is known to cause all sorts of complications like pain, recurrence, infection, rejection, migration, testicular damage etc. Many patients have filed adverse event report with the FDA. Companies are facing more than 70,000 mesh injury lawsuits in federal court and thousands of additional cases in state courts of USA.Companies are playing safe by using doctors’ card in the court litigation. Lawyers said that the product was thoroughly vetted before it hit the market and that doctors considered the mesh used to be the "gold standard" for treatment.
Can you really make a hole in a thin and filmy transversalis fascia to insert the Prolene Hernia System (PHS) as depicted in the picture below? Such diagrammatic presentation by many professionals on behalf of mesh manufacturing companies is nothing but a marketing gimmick. But at whose cost?
Mesh can shrink from a palm size to finger size
Can you really make a hole like this

“There is now no place for mesh prostheses in hernia repair surgery because no mesh technique of “Dr. Desarda Repair” is available with superior results.”
It is possible that some surgeons may use old tension repairs like Bassini or Shouldice under the pretext of mesh free surgery. So always insist for mesh free repair by "DESARDA TECHNIQUE" only
